Differentiation Workshops

Differentiation is the key to reaching every student

Much has been written about differentiated instruction, what it is, how it works, and why it matters. But, when it comes to implementing it in the classroom, there is very little information other than lists of strategies and techniques. When you need practical advice about HOW to effectively differentiate instruction in your classroom, our half-and full-day workshops provide step-by-step instructions on how to meet the learning needs of all of the students in your classroom while holding them all to the same rigorous standards and without working yourself to death.

In our half- and full-day differentiated instruction workshops, we start by clearing up a lot of the confusion about what differentiation iis and is not. Chances are, you’ve probably taken differentiation workshops before and still struggle with differentiation in your classroom. Rather than innundate you with a bunch of disconnected strategies, we will show you how to individualize your instruction without creating 28 different lesson plans (one for each student in your class). You’ll learn how to quickly and efficiently diagnose your students’ needs and how to adjust your lessons to meet those needs. Finally, we’ll show you how to put it all together by developing one differentiated unit plan you can use immediately to help all of your students meet the objectives of your unit.

In our Differentiated RTI workshops , we help you understand how effective differentiation strategies support tier one RTI interventions. We explain RTI in clear language free of jargon. Then we show you how to develop a proactive monitoring and intervention plan using differentiated tier 1 interventions and automatic “red flag mechanisms” that help you easily identify which students need which interventions. Finally, we provide strategies for implementing this proactive intervention plan without creating a ton of extra work for yourself.

We also offer an Instructional Leaders Workshop to help instructional leaders support teachers’ efforts at differentiation over the long-term. In this half-day workshop, principals, assistant principals, department heads, team leaders, content coaches, and district leaders learn how to support teachers’ efforts at differentiated instruction, how to conduct walk-throughs and observations focused on differentiated instruction, differentiated instructional look-fors, and how to differentiate their own instructional leadership so that they can help all of their teachers effectively meet the diverse learning needs in their classrooms. This workshop comes with walk-through templates, observation forms, a list of differentiation look-fors, and other templates you can use to monitor and support teachers’ efforts at differentiation in the classroom.
